🚀 Getting started

1
Click the ClipStash icon in your menu bar to open the panel.
2
Copy anything — text, URLs, files from Finder, or screenshots (Pro) — and it appears in your history automatically.
3
Click an item to paste it, or press Return on the selected item.
4
Pin frequently used clips (⌘P) so they're always at the top.
5
Drag clips into a custom group (Pro) to keep work, research, and snippets separate.
6
Pro users can bind a custom global shortcut in Settings → Shortcuts.

❓ Frequently asked

ClipStash isn't capturing my clipboard

Make sure Accessibility permission is granted — it's required for pasting clips back into the active app. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and ensure ClipStash is enabled. If it's already listed, try removing it and adding it again.

There's no keyboard shortcut by default — is that right?

Yes. ClipStash lives in your menu bar, and a default shortcut would often collide with another app's hotkey. Pro users can open Settings → Shortcuts and record any combination they like — ClipStash flags conflicts instantly so you land on something that works.

How many clips are stored?

Free users can store up to 10 clipboard items. Pro users get unlimited clipboard history. Pinned items are always preserved regardless of the limit.

Can ClipStash save files and images, not just text?

Yes. Files copied from Finder are recognized as file clips and paste back as the original file — drag them into another Finder window, attach them in Mail, etc. Screenshots and copied images are saved as image clips for Pro users.

How do I organize clips into groups?

With Pro, create a custom group by right-clicking any clip and choosing Move to Group → New Group…, or drag any clip onto a group tab in the panel. Drag a clip onto the All tab to remove it from its group.

Is my clipboard data private?

Yes. All clipboard data — text, files, and images — is stored locally on your Mac. ClipStash does not send your clipboard contents to any server. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How do I exclude apps from clipboard tracking?

Open ClipStash Settings and scroll to the Excluded Apps section, then click Choose Apps… and pick one or more apps from your Applications folder. Clips copied while those apps are in the foreground will be skipped.

Can I restore my purchase on a new Mac?

Yes. Open ClipStash, go to the Upgrade screen, and click Restore Purchases. Your subscription or lifetime purchase will be restored automatically if you're signed in with the same Apple ID.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through Apple. Open System Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases → Manage Subscriptions, find ClipStash, and cancel from there.

What's included in the free trial?

The 7-day free trial unlocks every Pro feature: unlimited history, image clips, Smart Tags, Custom Groups with drag-to-organize, Privacy Vault with Touch ID, plain text copy, unlimited pins, source-app tracking, and a customizable global shortcut. After the trial, your subscription converts to your local monthly price (USD $1.99 base; localized to your App Store region) unless canceled at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

I already used my free trial — why can't I start another?

Free-trial eligibility is managed by Apple and tied to your Apple ID, not your ClipStash install. Reinstalling or switching Macs does not reset eligibility. You can still subscribe to any plan or purchase the lifetime option.
