💡 The short version

ClipStash stores every clip locally on your Mac. We don't collect, transmit, or store your clipboard contents, personal data, or usage analytics on any external server — because we don't operate any.

📋 What data ClipStash accesses

Everything in the table below stays on your device, unless marked otherwise.

🚫 What we do not collect

ClipStash never collects, transmits, or stores:

× Clipboard contents or history
× Name, email, location
× Usage analytics or telemetry
× Device identifiers or fingerprints
× Crash reports or diagnostics
× Advertising data, ever

💾 Local data storage

Clipboard history is stored in a local database on your Mac using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device.

You can delete everything at any time from ClipStash Settings → Clear History. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.

Free-trial eligibility and subscription status are managed by Apple's StoreKit and tied to your Apple ID, not ClipStash. We never see or store this information.

💳 Subscriptions & purchases

ClipStash offers in-app purchases managed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not process, store, or have access to any payment information.

Manage your subscription in System Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases → Subscriptions.

🔐 Accessibility permission

ClipStash requests macOS Accessibility for one single purpose:

The custom open-panel shortcut (Pro) is registered through Apple's native hotkey API and does not require Accessibility. Accessibility does not grant ClipStash access to screen content, keystrokes outside our own hotkey, or other applications' data.

👥 Third-party services

ClipStash integrates with zero third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only external service interaction is with Apple's StoreKit framework for in-app purchase verification.

🗄️ Data retention

Clipboard history is retained on your device until you manually delete it via Settings → Clear History, or until it's automatically replaced when the limit is reached (10 items for free, unlimited for Pro).

Pinned clips are retained indefinitely until you unpin and delete them. Uninstalling ClipStash removes all locally stored clipboard data.

⚖️ Your rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device and we don't collect or process any personal data on external servers, you have full control over your information at all times:

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA. Because ClipStash does not collect, store, or process personal data on external servers, these regulations have minimal applicability. If you have a data-related concern, please contact us.

🌍 Governing law

This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Canada. Any disputes arising from this policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in the Province of Ontario, Canada.

📝 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of ClipStash after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
