Click the "+" button in the top-right corner of the app. A dialog will appear asking for your document title. Enter a name and click "Create" to start a new document. You can also use the keyboard shortcut ⌘N.

All your documents are stored securely on your Mac using Core Data. We don't use any cloud services, and your data never leaves your computer. This means your writing is completely private and accessible offline.

Open any document and click the export button (arrow pointing down) in the top-right of the editor. Choose a location on your Mac, and your document will be saved as a .txt file with your chosen name.

Yes! Click the import button (arrow pointing up) in the top-right corner of the sidebar. Select one or more .txt files from your Mac, and they'll be imported into Prose. The filename will automatically become your document title.

Prose automatically saves your documents every 2 seconds as you type. You'll see a "Saving..." indicator in the editor, which changes to "Saved" when complete. You'll never lose your work, even if the app closes unexpectedly.

Yes! Use the search bar at the top of the sidebar to search by document title or content. Results update instantly as you type, making it easy to find the document you're looking for.

Absolutely! Click the sun/moon icon in the top-right corner to toggle between light and dark modes. Your preference is remembered between sessions, so Prose will open in your preferred theme next time.

At the bottom of the editor, you'll see live statistics: the number of lines in your document, total word count, and total character count. These update in real-time as you type, helping you track your writing progress.
